After falling to Western Albemarle late last week, Albemarle’s baseball team needed to bounce back Wednesday night against Powhatan.
The Patriots proved up to the task, edging Powhatan 1-0 at home.
The Patriots’ James Aker picked up the win, striking out six batters in five innings of work. Drew Shifflett pitched the last two innings to pick up a save. Shifflett also doubled in Albemarle’s lone run.
The Patriots will host Amherst Thursday before a Friday night clash at home with Charlottesville completes a three-game week for Albemarle.
