Albemarle High’s baseball team took its first loss of the year at the hands of Brooke Point Friday when the Patriots fell 6-0.
Brooke Point senior Chris Denno shut down the Patriots bats that had been red-hot through three games, striking out 12 in a complete game effort.
Joey Varaksa and Timmy Aker allowed just three hits in a combined effort on the mound, but seven walks and two errors created problems for the Patriots.
Varaksa, Jake Hendrix and Kristian Aasen each had hits for Albemarle.
