Albemarle baseball scraps together win over Stafford

Thanks to a quality start from Austin Turner and great relief effort from Timmy Aker, Albemarle was able to put together a 3-2 victory against Stafford on Tuesday.

Turner threw five innings and surrendered only two runs but was not awarded the decision. Aker finished the Indians off in two innings of work.

Offensively, Benny Baranik was 3 for 3 with an RBI. Joey Varaksa was 2 for 4 and drove in the game winning RBI in the top of the seventh. Lee Carneal also had a pair of hits.

Albemarle (11-6, 7-5 Commonwealth) hosts Colonial Forge on Friday at 6 p.m.
