Albemarle football gets on track on the road

The last time Albemarle football beat Stafford was 2006. The last time they won a game in Stafford County was 2008 against North Stafford.

Both losing streaks are over now.

The Patriots beat Stafford 20-10 Friday night behind an incredible defense effort and enough offense to overcome a series of tough penalties.

The Patriots’ defense limited Stafford to just 172 yards of total offense and put the clamps on the Indians throughout the night.

That was enough as Drake Bryant helped put the game away with 1:30 to play when he plowed in from five yards out to push the Patriots’ advantage to two scores.

Offensively, D.G. Archer threw a pair of touchdowns to Matt Crist and Nick Lawson for the Patriots.

Albemarle (1-1) locks up with Patrick Henry-Roanoke next week before jumping into the Jefferson District slate.
