Albemarle takes five-game match from North Stafford

It took them five games, but Albemarle’s volleyball team managed to put away North Stafford Thursday night, bouncing back from a loss to archrival Western Albemarle with a 3-2 win over the Wolverines.

The Patriots won game one 25-19 but dropped the next two frames 25-14 and 25-23. That put the inexperienced squad against a wall, forcing them to win 25-14 and 15-8 to snag the win.

Stephanie Strauss followed up a monster night against Western with 13 kills and eight blocks against North Stafford while Megan Napolitano came up with 11 kills.

Server Jessi Block piled up 33 assists in the match and knocked down four aces. Block was solid at the service line with 15 service points, and Kelly Barker also looked good on the serve with 14 service points and a pair of aces. Barker chipped in 10 kills too.

Sarah Terlesky led the defense with 15 digs.

Albemarle moves to 2-1 and 1-0 in the Commonwealth on the year.
