Buckingham boys basketball beats Cumberland to win Christmas Tournament

Buckingham’s boys basketball team rolled past rival Cumberland 93-69 Monday night to win the Cumberland Christmas Tournament. 

 

Zahir Chambers led the charge for the nights with 22 points and five steals while Justin Gunter scored 21 and snagged eight boards. Amare Jones finished with 12 points and took home tournament MVP honors while K.J. Williams and George Hurt also chipped in 12 each. 

 

JaQuan Rose led Cumberland with 27 points. 

 

Gunter also earned all-tournament honors. The Knights (5-3, 2-0 James River) take a long break before returning to action January 4th against Nottoway.
