Buckingham boys knock off Amelia, moves to 12-1

Apparently, Buckingham can make quick work of a team even without Cam Johnson or Timmy Randolph getting into double figures.

The Knights rode a balanced offensive effort to a 64-43 victory over Amelia Tuesday night, jumping out to an 8-point first quarter lead and never relinquishing that advantage.

Amelia managed to clamp down on Johnson’s scoring as he finished with eight points, but the senior dished out a team-high four assists on the night while committing just one turnover. Randolph managed just eight points of his own, but hauled in seven boards.

The focus on controlling those two opened things up for players like Tariq Bartee (13 points) and Dre Scott (14 points). Scott also hauled in seven boards while Bartee had four rebounds and a pair of steals. Kyree Koonce picked up seven boards on the night and also had a block.

Davonte Royal led Amelia with 10 points while Orlando Booker checked in with nine for the Raiders.

Buckingham moves to 12-1 on the season and steps out of district to take on Appomattox tomorrow on the road before battling Nottoway Friday.
