Buckingham football drops Randolph-Henry

Buckingham bounced back Friday night from a frustrating James River District loss to Goochland last week with a 69-21 thrashing of Randolph Henry.

Kenneth Johnson’s electric 255 yards and four touchdowns on just 11 touches helped power the onslaught. Johnson averaged 23.2 yards per touch in the rout.

Leon Ragland proved efficient at quarterback, rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries and threw for another 85 yards on 5 for 7 passing.

Matrice Foster, Domeriera Callaham and Tariq Gough also had solid nights on the ground. Foster and Gough had 65 yards each while Callahan picked up 51 yards on seven chances.

John Edwards led the receivers with 39 yards, all on one catch. Jesse Hickman had 7.5 tackles including two for a loss and Derik Companion had eight stops on the night.

Justin Ayres and Ragland each had a big night defensively too, breaking up three passes each while Ragland had a pick six for the Knights.

Buckingham gets a chance to shake up the James River District race Friday on the road against unbeaten Central Lunenburg.
