Buckingham picks up victory over Central Lunenburg

You can slow down one or even two of Buckingham’s core group of scorers. But you can’t stop them all at once.

Friday night, L.A. Briley, usually more of a distributor for the Knights, exploded against Central Lunenburg for 21 points as Buckingham picked up a 64-58 victory to extend its current win streak to five games.

Briley got a lot of help down low from Cam Johnson who put together a 17-point, 15-rebound effort for Buckingham that helped moved the Knights to 13-2 overall.

Buckingham’s Tarian Ayres only managed six points on the night but he found other ways to contribute, posting a rarely seen assists/rebounds double double with 10 assists and 10 rebounds. He also had four steals to lead the Knights in that category.

Brandyn Seward led Central with 14 points on the night.

Buckingham has a critical clash Tuesday night with rival Cumberland at home. Cumberland dealt Buckingham one of the Knights’ two losses in the first half of James River District play.
