Buckingham stays unbeaten, blows out Nottoway

Another week, another big-time rushing performance by Buckingham’s backfield.

The Knights kept it on the ground against Nottoway en route to a 48-14 victory, rolling up 333 yards on 42 carries.

Kenneth Johnson rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries as well as breaking in for a 2-point conversion. His backfield mate Kyree Koonce had an almost identical night, going for 158 yards on 13 touches. The two averaged nearly 12.5 yards per carry. Koonce had a pair of touchdowns and his own 2-point conversion.

Buckingham took to the air just twice, completing both passes as Cam Johnson found Austin Seay and Koonce for six and nine yards respectively.

Both Koonce and Kenneth Johnson are on pace for more than 1,000 yards on the year and Johnson now has 19 touchdowns this season.

The Knights (5-0) host Randolph Henry next week.
