Covenant football blows past Randolph Macon Academy

Covenant football got things moving on the ground again on Saturday afternoon as the Eagles rolled 41-28 past Randolph Macon Academy.

The Eagles’ first road victory came a week after they knocked off Portsmouth Christian at home and another big dose of the ground game got the job done.

This time Paul Huemme took on more of the load at quarterback with 182 yards on 16 carries including a touchdown. Austin Llera took on a few less carries than his 26-touch performance against Portsmouth Christian but had similar results with 112 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Quane Washington also got going with 115 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

Huemme threw just three times, with two completions going for 33 yards and an interception on the other attempt.

Sam Seelman led the Covenant defensively with 10 tackles and Stephen Wilder picked off a pair of passes. Bobby Findley also snagged an interception.

The Eagles will head south to take on Virginia Episcopal Saturday to try and move to 3-0 on the year.
