Covenant girls lacrosse falls to VES

Covenant’s girls lacrosse team nearly picked up a critical win at home as the senior-laden Bishops edged out the young Eagles 8-7 with a go-ahead goal in the final minute.

Eighth grader Delaney Poindexter finished with four goals, five draw controls and four ground balls while Margaret Ann Graves scored twice and picked up three ground balls. Jenna Gillian scored once and dished out two assists. Cara Hamil had three ground balls.

Covenant keeper Katy Varaksa played a huge role in keeping the Eagles close all game with seven saves on the day.

The Eagles now await their VISAA Division II tournament seeding.
