Covenant’s wrestling team put together a solid performance the Amherst Invitational this weekend, with six wrestlers placing in the top six of the tournament field that included a number of 4A, 5A and 6A schools.
Zach Scharf finished second at 126 pounds and Paul Huemme took second at 160 pounds. Eighth Grader Rick Weaver took third place in the heavyweight class while going 5-1 on the weekend.
Kyle Naran took fifth place at 170 pounds while Matt Kersey also took fifth at 285. Stephen Wilder finished sixth at 138.
The Eagles will next take the mat at Fork Union Friday in the FUMA Quad Meet.
