In tough test Wednesday night, Madison County outlasted John Handley 63-54 on the strength of a solid night for Logan Terrell.

Terrell started off with a hot shooting hand for Madison going five for five with 10 points in just the first quarter and finished with 18 points on the night. The game was fast-paced and close through much of the third period. The Judges held their

largest lead at that point, just four points over Madison.

The Mountaineers had no answer for the John Handley’s Mitchell Smith who could not miss in the first half and finished with a game high 20 points in a losing effort. Jeremiah Wilson, headed to play football for Maryland next fall also played well at the point for the Judges.

Senior David Falk stepped up the defense in the second half to help Madison stay undefeated. Falk finished with 10 points and a game high four steals. Forward Matt Garr played some tenacious defense throughout the night and Jerel Carter, as usual, filled up the stat sheet for Madison. Coach Ben Breeden also got contributions from the bench from Patrick Lucas and Travis Warren and with A.J. Butler out of the game with a sprained ankle, those were critical minutes for the Mountaineers.

At times Madison almost let the game slip away with a dismal night from the free throw line going 14-28, but made key free throws when it mattered to preserve the victory.

“Maybe it was the travel that affected us tonight at the free throw line”, Coach Breeden said after the game.

Madison hits the road again Friday as they travel to play Strasburg at 7:30.
