Madison softball state bound again behind Seale’s no-hitter

She had 14 strike outs in the first round of Region B play, apparently that wasn’t enough. Madison County’s Lauren Seale spent her Wednesday evening throwing a complete game no-hit shutout against Central Lunenburg to lead her team into the Region B championship and earn a Group A bid in the process with a 1-0 win.

Seale struck out 15 batters on the night and gave up just one walk keeping her from a perfect game.

Offensively, Madison made the most of a Sam Atwell single in the top of the fifth. Reagan Clatterbaugh then came through with an RBI triple to deliver the game’s only run.

The Mountaineers will play at East Rockingham on Friday in the Region B finals with the winner earning a home game to open up the state quarterfinals. This is the second straight season that Madison has moved on past Region B play.
