Monticello softball moves to 2-0 with victory

Monticello’s softball team is off to a solid start as the Mustangs stayed unbeaten early in the season with a 3-1 victory over Liberty-Bealeton Thursday night.

Senior pitcher Kaitlyn Bodine led the way in the circle and at the plate, throwing seven innings and surrendering just three hits, two walks and a run while striking out seven. She unleashed a 3 for 4 night at the plate too with a pair of RBI.

Bodine’s catcher Mattie Morris walked twice and scored all three runs for Mustangs while Ruby Garofalo went 1 for 4 with a sacrifice bunt.

Monticello, now 2-0, heads to William Monroe Friday evening for the Dragons’ tournament.
