Mustangs edge Dragons in volleyball

Behind the all-around play of Charlotte Devine, the defense of Tristam Carr, the passing of Allie Perez and some added offense from Zimako Chuks the Monticello volleyball team was able find from behind to beat William Monroe 3-2, 14-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-11, 15-4.

Devine led the way for the Mustangs with a 15-kill, 10-dig performance. Carr was big defensively at libero with 16 digs. Perez not only had 34 assists to keep the offense flowing, but also netted six aces to lead her team in that department. Chuks gave Monticello a pair of players with double-digit kills as she finished with 11.

Monticello (1-1) heads to R.E. Lee on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
