Behind a balanced attack and another great night at the service line, Monticello’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Orange County on Tuesday night, 25-16, 25-21, 25-7.
The Mustangs had four players record two aces – Carla Brooks, Kate Geldmacher, Taylor Hopkins and Mariah Williams. Geldmacher led all players in the match with 12 kills. Charlotte Divine registered the team’s last of nine aces while also piling up seven kills. Williams led the way in the passing game, accumulating an impressive 27 assists. Rianna Jansen had a team high 11 digs with Hopkins chipping in eight of her own.
For Orange, both Allie Fincham and Rachel Donaldson had three kills and three blocks. However, the Hornets struggled with unforced errors, committing 27.
Monticello hosts Fluvanna County on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
The Hornets welcome Goochland at home at the same date and time.
