Neuroth hit sparks Monticello softball over Louisa

Lydia Neuroth has been a consistent force for Monticello’s softball team this year, but she showcased her clutch hitting ability Friday night for the Mustangs.

Neuroth had a game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday, lifting Monticello to a 1-0 win over Louisa County.

The Mustangs (12-0, 7-0 Jefferson District) came up with four hits on the night, while the Lions scratched out just one against Victoria Scott, who struck out 14 and walked just four in her usual complete game effort. Brianna Cox anchored Louisa well in the circle, holding the Mustangs scoreless before Neuroth’s hit.

Brittney Via went 1 for 2 on the night with a double for the Mustangs.

Monticello travels to William Monroe on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. matchup.
