Next Up: STAB football rolls past Kenston Forest ahead of VISFL semis

With the array of speedy weapons like Amani Woods and Nic Reese that St. Anne’s-Belfield has on offense, Gabe Decker can sometimes be forgotten or overlooked.

If you’re an opposing defense making that mistake, it can become a big problem fast. Decker made the most of nine total touches Friday night with three touchdowns in a 42-0 victory over Kenston Forest. With the win, the Saints will host Virginia Episcopal in the VISFL semifinals next week.

Decker scored twice on the ground with five carries for 30 yards and then hauled in 70 yards receiving on four catches including a 48-yard touchdown from Reese. Reese also threw a touchdown to Elijah Johnson and rushed for one score of his own.

Woods set the rhythm for the STAB offense like he’s done all year, rushing 18 times for 124 yards and a touchdown. Reese was a perfect 3-for-3 in his attempts at quarterback including the two touchdowns. Jago Gould and Nick Musi had a few carries too, with Musi picking up 26 yards while Gould had 25 yards and a touchdown on two carries.

STAB’s defense was suffocating, holding Kenston Forest to just 61 yards while also not allowing a single third or fourth down conversion in eight total attempts. Joe Ambrosi had two tackles for a loss as part of a night with five solo stops. Luke Antesberger had a pair tackles for a loss as well. Jackson Colavincenzo had a sack, Fields Craig had a tackle for a loss and Jackson Harry made a big stop behind the line of scrimmage.

The Saints will face Virginia Episcopal Friday at 6 p.m.
