Private school hoops roundup: Tandem boys edge out STAB, STAB girls roll past Stuart Hall

Tandem Friends boys basketball knew with Jalen Anderson coming back they’d have at least one proven scoring option in the mix.

But the Badgers got off to as good of a start as they could hope for with a huge win over St. Anne’s-Belfield Tuesday night, edging the Saints 69-68 at home.

Anderson finished with 23 points for Tandem, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers while going 7-for-10 at the free throw line. Dean Lockley stepped up in a big way for the Badgers too, going 9-for-10 at the charity stripe while Anthony Nelson finished with 12 points. Jacob Rice rounded out the bulk of the scoring with nine points.

Tandem poured in 26 points in the second quarter to build a 40-32 lead over the Saints. STAB closed strong with a 19-point final quarter, but Tandem held them off with Nelson scoring half his points in the fourth. Messiah Woods scored 11 points in the fourth for STAB as part of his 18-point performance while Justin Taylor scored eight of his game-high 24 points that included five 3-pointers.

STAB’s Dalton Taylor chipped in 10 points. Carter Lang finished with nine boards, three assists and three steals.
