Taylor’s explosive night sparks Buckingham

It’s become a familiar formula over the last two years in Buckingham County—give Maurice Taylor the ball, play solid defense and notch another victory in the win column.

But sometimes, even when you know what’s coming, Taylor can impress and surprise you. That’s what he did to Cumberland in a 35-0 thrashing of the Knights’ rival Friday night.

The Knights’ star tailback put together a vintage performance, piling up 302 yards on 26 carries for four touchdowns for Buckingham in the critical victory that pushes the Knights’ record to 7-0 on the season.

The Knights also got a little done through the air when Cam Johnson hit Antonn Briley for a 25-yard touchdown. Johnson stepped under center for injured starter Tarian Ayers when Ayers went down early in the second quarter and didn’t return.

Buckingham will face Randolph-Henry for homecoming next Friday night.
