Western crushes Orange County

Locust grove

Western Albemarle got off to a fast start with a pair of first quarter touchdowns and never looked back against Orange Friday night, rolling 48-0 over the Hornets to move to 4-0 on the season.

Sam Hearn had a hand in both of those first two touchdowns, sprinting in from 15 yards out on the first and finding Derek Domecq for an 80-yard catch and run on the second that gave the Warriors the big early lead. Hearn finished 6 for 9 for 171 yards passing and rushed for another 43 yards and the early score.

Henry Keienbaum picked up 88 yards on the ground on seven touches, including a third quarter touchdown and he added 40 yards receiving. Oliver Herndon had a pair of scores on the ground.

Western’s defense limited Orange to just 165 yards of total offense in the shutout, with Domecq’s 4.5 tackles leading the way. Matt Wozneak had a sack for the Warriors. Kicker Holland Corbett connected on both his field goal attempts from 43 and 33 yards out, with both coming in the second quarter.

The Warriors will try and keep the momentum going next week when they host cross-county rival Albemarle High while Orange will search for its first win when they take on Fluvanna County.
