Willy leads Albemarle past Stafford

Albemarle’s baseball team knew before this season it had things under control whenever Joe Burris took the mound. But they weren’t sure about those other games.

A.J. Willy may make things easier on the Patriots. Willy pitched a complete game two-hitter Wednesday night, walking a tightrope in a 1-0 victory over Stafford that was deadlocked at 0-0 until the seventh.

Kyle Vidano broke through with a 2-out RBI single in the top of the seventh to give the Patriots the lead.

Ty Pittman also had a pair of hits for Albemarle.

Albemarle (8-1, 7-1 Commonwealth) faces Colonial Forge Friday at 6 p.m.
