Win slips away from Nelson in clash with Dan River

Dan River’s late surge Friday night snatched a huge potential win away from Nelson County as the Governors fell 41-36 after leading 28-21 at the break. 

 

The Governors got a huge outing from George Brown on offense going 16-for-26 for 281 yards and three scores to three different pass catchers, with Brice Wilson, Jamel Rose and Brandon Jamerson all three hauling in touchdowns. The Governros also picked up 179 yards on the ground with Brown going for 55 yards including a pair of touchdown runs, Wilson picking 52, Kavin Carter posting 37 yards and Aveon Tabb picking up 35. 

 

Wilson finished with nine catches for 141 yards including a 70-yard catch as part of night where he piled up 255 yards from scrimmage.

 

Cole Koschara and Wilson each had interceptions defensively while Kavin Carter had nine total tackles including five solo stops. Bryson Ramsey provided some pressure on the Dan River quarterback with three hurries.

 

The Governors (3-4) will look to rebound when they host Chatham Friday night.
