Albemarle girls soccer shuts out Monticello

Figuring out who to lock in on defensively when you face Albemarle girls soccer just can’t be an easy task. Try and tie up Madeline St. Amand just a couple of days after she scored twice and notched an assist against Fluvanna and someone else is bound to burn you.

Like Katie Manley, for instance.

Manley scored twice Thursday night to help spark Albemarle to a 6-0 victory over Monticello as Albemarle moved to 2-0 on the season.

Reilly Bonham, Devon Higginbottom and defender Marquesa Peloquin each scored once to bolster Manley’s effort. Freshman Lana Ortiz also had a goal and chipped in a pair of assists while Samathan Fischer had an assist as well.

Keeper Sydney Alexander came up with a shutout in goal as well.

The Patriots face Deep Run in a big early season road test Monday.
