Just a day after finishing second in the Jefferson District tournament, Albemarle’s golf team kicked the postseason into high gear in Harrisonburg. The Patriots rolled to a Region 5D title at Heritage Oaks, carding a 317 as a team to win the region title by nine strokes over runner-up Stafford.

Junior Mia Liang set the pace for the Patriots with a 74 and took home the individual region title with that performance. Freshman Vivian Hui followed Liang with a 77 while Robert Brozey carded an 82. Jack Kelly finished with an 84 and Adam Turner posted an 87 to wrap up the Patriots’ scoring and the championship.

The Patriots outpaced Stafford as well as third place Patrick Henry who had a 328 as a team and Mountain View who finished with a 346 for fourth place.

The Patriots advance to the state tournament at Magnolia Green Golf Club in Moseley October 14.
