Dougald hat trick lifts Albemarle boys soccer past Fluvanna

It’s a pretty good indicator of Albemarle’s boys soccer team’s depth that the Patriots brought three first team All-Jefferson District picks back to the starting lineup this year and in the squad’s debut, it wasn’t one of those players who notched a hat trick.

Instead, senior Graham Dougald exploded for three goals in a 3-0 victory over Fluvanna County to open the Patriots’ season with a Jefferson District victory at home.

Dougald scored one goal unassisted and Jack Dofflemyer and Jonathan Biediger came up with assists on the other. In goal, Micah Skadron earned the shutout in his debut in goal for the Patriots.

Fluvanna will look to bounce back on the road at Broadway while Albemarle travels to Harrisonburg Friday night.
