Blue Ridge moves on in BRAC tournament

Blue Ridge’s boys basketball team has been putting together the pieces all year and if Thursday is any indicator, the Barons are peaking at the right time.

Blue Ridge rolled 101-47 over Eastern Mennonite Thursday in the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference semifinals, earning a spot in the conference title game where they’ll face Hargrave Thursday.

A balanced offense led the way against EMHS, with Kamren Martin and Odita Aguolu each totalling 17 points. Aguolu went 8-for-11 from the field while Martin went 4-for-5 from beyond the 3-point line. Colby White and Diarmid Stewart each had 11 points. White also had six boards and four assists. Shanon Simango had seven rebounds for the Barons.

Cam Brewer dished out six assists and only turned the ball over once. Jordan Hairston had four assists and only one turnover. As a team, Blue Ridge registed an assist on 25 of their 41 field goals.

The Barons will square off with Hargrave Saturday in Lynchburg. Blue Ridge beat Hargrave twice in the regular season.
