String of Dominance: Louisa beats Courtland for seventh-straight time

Louisa County and Courtland have had some legendary battles over the years, but lately the Lions have taken control of the Big Cat Classic.

Behind big nights from the Lions’ veteran quarterback Landon Wilson and the dynamic freshmen tandem of Sav Hiter and Dyzier Carter, Louisa extended its current dominant run against Courtland with a 45-15 win.

That’s the Lions’ seventh-straight win over Courtland.

Hiter rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on just 12 carries, carrying the load on a 263-yard night on the ground for the Lions. Adam Mills’ 54 yards on nine touches also played a big role and Mills got the second half scoring started with a 7-yard touchdown and added another later in the quarter from 20 yards out.

Wilson and Carter connected from the start, with Wilson hitting the freshman on a 30-yard touchdown in the first quarter. They put it together again with a 43-yard score. Carter hauled in 142 yards and the two scores on six catches. Wilson went 8-for-16 for 172 yards.

The Lions’ defense held Courtland in check, forcing five turnovers on the night while also limiting the Cougars to just 170 yards of total offense.

Carter, Wilson and Maleke Huntington each had an interception and Cameron Hawkins and Hiter each came up with fumble recoveries.

The Lions now turn their attention to perhaps the most anticipated clash of the early season slate when they take on Massaponax on the road.
