2020 VHSL State Wrestling Roundup: Final Results

Madison County’s Jacob Sacra’s emotional, thrilling state title win in Class 2 was far from the only impressive local finish at the VHSL state wrestling tournaments. Here’s a rundown of locals who earned a spot on the podium over the weekend.

Class 4

Orange’s Blake Wilson took sixth at 126. After getting pinned in the semifinals, Wilson dropped a 3-1 decision in the consolation bracket before getting pinned in the fifth place match.

David Stiegler finished fourth at 145 pounds. After falling in the semifinals due to tech fall, Stiegler bounced back with a 10-2 major decision to earn a spot in the third place match. He fell 6-4 in the third place match.

Truth Wilson finished fifth at 195. After falling 7-4 in the semifinals, Wilson got pinned once and then pinned his opponent in the fifth place match.

Class 3

At 126 pounds, Western Albemarle’s Collin Castrina took sixth place. After falling in the quarterfinals on a late pin, Castrina battled back and won two matches in the consolations before falling and ending up sixth.

Class 2 

Madison County’s Sam Pequignot took sixth place at 113 pounds. Pequignot ripped off a pair of wins after getting knocked out in the quarterfinals and then ended his tournament in sixth.
